Audibel, and who actually makes it
Audibel is our primary line. It is a brand of Starkey Hearing Technologies, a privately held company founded in 1967 by Bill Austin and headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Starkey is the only American-owned member of the industry’s Big Five, alongside Sonova, Demant, GN Group and WS Audiology.
Worth knowing, because manufacturers rarely spell it out: Audibel devices are built on the same chip platforms as Starkey’s own prescription products. The current generations are Genesis AI, Edge AI and the newer Omega AI. Starkey supplies Audibel. Different badge, shared engineering.
That is not a criticism. It means the underlying technology is the same one that performs well in independent testing, and it is a reason not to agonise over the name on the case.

What independent testing says
Manufacturer marketing is not evidence. Independent laboratory testing is closer to it, so here is what the third parties report rather than what the brochure claims.
HearAdvisor, an independent hearing aid testing lab, gives the current Starkey and Audibel platforms an overall Tuned score of 4.5 out of 5. Consumer Reports ranked Audibel third out of seventeen hearing aid retailers for customer satisfaction, behind only the VA hearing aid program and Costco.

HearAdvisor’s finding comes with five words that matter more than the number: when fitted by a professional using best practices. That is the Tuned score, meaning the device was verified against a prescription rather than left on a factory default. The same hardware fitted without verification does not score the same. It is the clearest evidence we can point to that the fitting, not the badge, is what you are buying.
Other manufacturers we service
We repair and clean all makes and models, including devices bought somewhere else entirely. Bring them in and we will tell you honestly whether they are worth repairing or replacing.
Whether we can reprogram a device from another provider depends on the manufacturer and whether the device is locked to the practice that sold it. That is a real limitation and not one we control, so call with the model number and we will check before you drive over.
How to compare brands without getting lost
Every manufacturer publishes impressive-sounding processing names, and every one refreshes its lineup roughly every two years. Comparing feature lists is close to useless. Ask these five questions instead, of us and of anyone else you visit.
Question 1
Was it verified?
Did the provider measure the output in your ear against your prescription, or load a default program and send you home? This single question predicts satisfaction better than any brand comparison.
Question 2
What follow-up is included?
How many visits, over how long, and what does an adjustment cost after that? Devices need tuning after real-world use, and a fitting without follow-up is half a job.
Question 3
Who handles a repair in year three?
The person who fitted it, or a call center and a postal form? Ask where the device physically goes and how long you are without it.
Question 4
What are the trial terms?
In writing. The trial length, the return deadline and any restocking fee. A clinic that hesitates to put that on paper is telling you something.
Question 5
Does it suit your hands and eyes?
A device you cannot insert, charge or clean is not a good device at any price. This rules out more options than the audiogram does, and it is the one nobody asks about.
A note on independence
We are an Audibel provider, which means we have a commercial relationship with one manufacturer. You should know that when you weigh our recommendation, and you should ask every clinic you visit the same question.
What that relationship does not do is change the answer we give you. We will not fit a device we do not think suits your hearing, and if your results point somewhere we cannot help, we refer you rather than sell to you.
