What it does
The physics are simple and hard to argue with. A hearing aid microphone sits at your ear, several feet from the person talking, so it picks up their voice and everything between you. A remote microphone sits on them, inches from their mouth. The signal-to-noise ratio improves dramatically, and no amount of processing at your ear can replicate that.
Clip it to a companion’s shirt, set it on a table between you, or hand it across in a car. It is small, rechargeable, and it fits in a pocket.

Is this better than a premium hearing aid for restaurants?
In that specific situation, often yes, and it costs considerably less than stepping up a technology level. We would rather sell you a microphone that solves the problem than a tier upgrade that partly does.
How far does it reach?
Comfortably across a restaurant table or a car. Range drops with walls and distance, so it is designed for the person you are with rather than across a hall.
Does it need charging?
Yes, it is rechargeable. A charge lasts a typical evening out with room to spare.
